PCI Awards its Highest Honor: The Rockwell F. Clancy Awards

Once a year, Publishing Concepts awards its highest honor: the Rockwell F. Clancy Award to the PCI Associate who best lives and outwardly displays our seven values and seven promises. Mr. Clancy founded the Rockwell F. Clancy Company in 1921, and became the nation’s first alumni directory publisher. “Rocky” was not only esteemed for his business acumen, but he was also known for his big heart, generous nature and civic-mindedness.

Drew Clancy, Rocky’s grandson and CEO of Publishing Concepts, created and named the annual award to honor Rocky’s high standards, values and integrity displayed in all business and personal relationships. Publishing Concepts roots are founded on Rockwell Clancy’s traditions with its seven Core Values and seven Client Promises.

Here are the winners of this year’s Rockwell F. Clancy Awards:

Rockwell F. Clancy Award: Be Smart – Amberle Szot

There are no constraints on the human mind, no walls around the human spirit, no barriers to our progress except those we ourselves erect.” –Ronald Regan

Amberle has shown herself to be an innovator, learner, agent of change, and a champion of progress. Her accomplishments in the last year include (but are not limited to):

  • She has moved from designer to design architect.
    • This has required full control over all parts of the photo sections / Then & Now including writing the logic, the QC systems, and end to end execution.
    • This has moved her role from design to design programming.
  • Her work to refine the photo mailer project moved the needle from a day long process into an hour long process.
  • She has implemented and refined processes such as the incoming mailer workflow including training others in that workflow.
  • She has taken over a leadership role coaching and developing a new team member.
  • Her work on the Alumni Today product has shown innovation by creating a turn-key solution.

Her ideas and hard work have increased efficiency and quality while at the same time reducing errors. This required intuitiveness, adaptability, problem solving, and most importantly the ability to move forward in the face of ambiguity or uncertainty.

Amberle lives this on a daily basis with an unmistakable passion. We celebrate her accomplishments and look forward to what has yet to come. Because of her “Work smart AND hard” philosophy, Amber Szot is the recipient of the 2016 Rockwell F. Clancy “Be Smart” award.
